Moe Ndaye On The Girls Of Season 1
Noelana Savundra
August 4, 2010
After scouring the globe, world renowned supermodel Constance Jacquard has revealed to the media her Top 26 girls who will each have a chance to prove that they deserve to make the Final 13. We spoke to Moe Ndaye, respected fashion photographer, designer and a former male supermodel back in the 90s, who is one of the judges of the upcoming contest, about the revealed girls.
I was humbly welcomed into Ndaye's multi-million dollar, clifftop mansion adorned with refined, expensive furniture and post-modern design. However, Ndaye, was more content with sitting in his rooftop greenhouse overlooking the spectacular view as a location to conduct this interview.
Ndaye strictly refused to give any information about what the lucky thirteen girls would be subdued to through-out the contest but offered an in-depth opinion of his opinion of each girl.
"I have spent a considerable amount of time with each girl to have formed at least a decent opinion on them, including watching them pose in a simple [photo]shoot."
When asked whether any particular girl stood out to him Ndaye was enthusiastic to comment.
"I don't pick favourites, at least not this early, and even then I don't have favourites per se, more a sense of who I believe has really performance in the past. I am more easily impressed than Geneva [Swasson]," a fellow judge of The Industry and well-known fashion agent and socialite, "and barely as tough on the girls as her but I do need to see variety, adaptability and versatility in a girl. Any girl can achieve this, though I will admit some are more talented than others, and that is were the basis of the competition comes in."
Ndaye, known for his philosophical outlooks, and strong support of environmental issues and equality, surprised me by conducting the interview in formal trousers and an undone formal shirt, reminiscently known for his personable interaction with the media, he continued about his personal opinion of each girl:
Moe clearly believed that this was anybody's game.
"The panel of The Industry I believe has something for everyone. Constance genuinely wants to see the girls do well and improve, she is the firmness of the panel. Geneva is honest and may seem harsh, but she knows what she is talking about, definitely the opinionated one. El Divo is essential for the show, he is entertaining, caring and has a knack for making me agree with him."
"and we have the handsome older gentleman to round out the cast."
Ndaye can take a compliment extraordinarily: "(laughs) I would consider myself probably the nicest judge. I see a girl do something wrong or something that isn't quite working and want to help her improve. Girls who cannot take direction or improve will struggle to gather positive critique from me."
We ended the interview on that note, Ndaye's commitment to each girl was evident as sunset had already come and gone, but Ndaye wanted to, finally, make it known that the competition is really heating up and the girl's will really have to wow the judges [and the voters] during the semi-finals or they are going to be disappointed.
Who will win The Industry? We definitely have a group of diverse girls. Stay tuned in to see the Final 26 girls compete for a place in the Final 13.

"ADELE
I already see a model in Adele, and I see confidence, which is a great thing. With eyes as hooded as hers, she will need to be careful that she always connects with the camera whether she is looking at it or not. Gorgeous cheekbones.
ADELOII
With a makeover, she could be one of my favourites. I see loads of potential. A fashion amateur may look at her nose and instantly dismiss her, but it is her nose which draws me. She needs to stop dressing like she is 35 however.
ANNABELLA
She pops! What a look!
CLAUDIA
. This girl needs some smize. I see potential once she gets a license for those headlights.
CORD
It’s my job to look past the punk hair and clothing. I see a girl who will have to prove she can manage all areas of The Industry.
CORNELIA
Gorgeous features. Cornelia needs to stay away from that disgusting blonde hair bleach. She is in huge need of a makeover.
ELLIE
I love this girl’s eyes. I see an all-rounder, which is rarely a bad thing. I think she already has a model’s body too.
ELYZAVETA
Elyzaveta understands shape, silhouette… how to pose on-set. Her eyes are deadly.
GISELA
God, what is it about Serbians? As far as I am concerned, this girl definitely has a place in this competition, assuming she doesn’t crash and burn.
JESSICA
What eyes. I am impressed with this Aussie. Her bone structure has me intrigued.
KAREN
I personally feel like girl needs to tone down on the makeup. She has gorgeous eyes without the eyeliner and eyeshadow. To get further in this competition she will need to show a less commercial side of her face, as she has got the body and the talent it seems.
KARYNA
Such romance in her look, I am a big fan of Karyna’s kind of look. However, she really needs to pluck her brows, I think I see the beginnings of a monobrow. Apart from that, I am almost already seeing a model.
JOLINNE
I want to see her with her eyes fully opened. Based on some of her interaction with the media, I agree that she is a clean palette. However, less is more sometimes regarding facial expression, like Adele, she has hooded eyes she will need to learn how to model with.
LAURA
I’m unsure this girl is plus-sized, she is that in-between that makes photographers such as myself uncomfortable. She will need to either add some curve or be careful about how the camera accentuates her large hips. On a more positive note, I see loads of potential, what an all-rounder!
MACARENA
I love this girl’s jaw. Unfortunately her personal style makes her appear so much older, same with her soccer mom hair. I want to get ice blonde bleach and bleach her eyebrows and her hair, she has a jaw that could definitely handle a look like that. There is so much high fashion potential with this girl.
NATASHA & SASHA
I’m not sure I could personally bear to see either of them not get through the final 13. They have the baby-doll look that is so coveted in The Industry. I see two girls who are used to being pampered however, let’s see how they deal with being styled, for example, bald!! You never know what is going to happen in this competition.
NEREIDA
What an exotic beauty, and like Adeloii, her nose does have a place in This Industry. She is fresh and I see a girl with a fantastic professional attitude.
NOELLE
If I could inject confidence into her I would. If she manages to get past that, I see a girl with gorgeous features. Confidence and the “Wow!” factor is what she requires to stand out in this semi-final round.
SHIR
Without that hair, I see potential. This girl is such an exotic beauty. I personally love her ethnicity, it’s not something you see every day, let alone an Israeli girl pursuing a modelling career.
SVETLANA
What a classic beauty. I see a girl that may not be totally sure what to do in front of the camera however. As I said before, variety is what each girl will have to exude to get further in this competition.
SYESHIA
I am proud of this girl. She has been through a lot. I love her eyes and her cheekbones and jaw line. I see a very androgynous girl. I would love to shoot her.
THERESE
I see a very versatile girl. If she keeps doing what she’s doing, a.k.a. being a model on and off-camera, I see her making it in to the Final 13.
URSULA
Northern Europe has a habit of creating beautiful girls and Ursula is no exception. Styled up and with a makeover there is potential in her.
ZANI
I love her look, it’s so classic, there is no Cleopatra-esque girl in this Industry and if this girl has the talent she could definitely fill in that clique.
ZOUZOU
This girl has the height, the racial ambiguity and the face. I would like to see her relax her face more."
